Ever notice how the moisture builds up in your automobile? What about in your motorhome or RV? Moisture buildup will usually happen in colder months. However moisture in recreational vehicles can often be caused by cooking on the stove in the kitchen and from moisture from the shower. The problem with moisture buildup is that it can cause permanent staining and the growth of mold and mildew.
Here are some tips that you can use to prevent mositure buildup in your RV.
-
Use a small dehumidifier to keep the condensation down
-
When possible open air vents to allow the air to breath
-
When showering in your RV be sure to open the roof vents and if you have a vent fan turn it on as well. This will help keep the condensation down
-
Try not to use the stove to boil water or soups. If equipped make use of the microwave in these situations
-
If using the stove to boil water or soup open a window slightly to provide a passage for the air to flow. This will help restrict the condensation
-
Try to re-circulate the air by using vent fans or small oscillating fans if available
-
If condensation occurs, try to keep the windows clean in order to prevent the growth of mold and mildew
